POSTPARTUM DOULA SUPPORT

Everyone wants to hold the baby,
but who is holding the mother?

Becoming a mother, no matter how many times you may have done so, is one of the most momentous transitions a woman experiences. It can be both a beautiful and overwhelming time for a woman as she navigates a whole new way of being. It is a period of time where she must be honoured with as much love, support and nourishment as her newborn baby.

I’m here to hold YOU Mama!

The word “doula” comes from a Greek word meaning “a woman who serves”

My role as your Postpartum Doula is to support, nurture and nourish you so you can focus on enjoying bonding with, and nurturing, your baby. My care is ‘mother-centred’, meaning I am there wholly for YOU and YOUR needs!

Think of me as your Fairy Godmother who magically arrives to take care of those tasks like folding laundry, hanging out washing or tidying the kitchen. Allow me to care for baby while you do whatever brings you peace and joy however that looks for you - rest, shower, eat, take time out for yourself. I offer a compassionate, judgement free listening ear to help process any emotions coming up that you may feel uncomfortable discussing with those close to you. I also come bearing gifts of a nourishing meal, snacks and beverages.

Having a supportive fourth trimester allows for a smoother more enjoyable transition into motherhood, which in turn means you feel more calm and confident to trust in your own mother instinct and wisdom.

“After the birth there's a sacred window of time. A time for complete rejuvenation of a woman's physical, mental and spiritual health. A time for deep, extended bonding with her newborn. The first 42 days after birth set the stage for her next 42 years”

— Ysha Oakes

My mission and goal at the end of our time together is for you to feel confident; calm; grounded and supported; and to know where to access resources and further support should you need.

“Our Western culture has done mothers a great disservice by not honoring them on their road to recovery and giving them the time they need to adjust to the monumental changes in their lives.”

— Dr Oscar Serralach
